Bonita M. (Bley) Viste

     Bonita May Viste, born March 14, 1940, to Stanley and Marion Bley, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

     Bonnie was baptized, confirmed and married at Zion Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. She attended Sevastopol High School and graduated in 1958. On August 16, 1958, she married Douglas Viste, who preceded her in death in 1995.

     Bonnie worked at Nelson Shopping Center for over thirty years. She served as a Sunday school teacher for several years at Zion Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport. After her retirement from Nelson Shopping Center, she worked part time at the Red Geranium gift shop. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor, where she also served as financial secretary for a number of years. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and neighbors and watching her grandchildren at sporting events.

     She will be missed by her four children: Jay (Kendra) Viste, Jayne (David) Trauger, Jody (Carrie) Viste and Jolynn (David) Nelson. She is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Kyle (Paige) Nelson, Andrea (Tyler) Nelson and Audrey Viste; great grandchild Nate Nelson; three sisters, Diann Ehlers, Mary (Peter) Paul and Penny (Tim) Biwer.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

     Preceding her in death were her father and mother, father and mother-in-law, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law and her grandparents.

     Her life will be honored with a memorial service at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor on Monday, September 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Scharrig officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Monday starting at 9:30 a.m. and will continue until the time of service.

     Memorials may be given in her honor to Door CANcer or Immanuel Lutheran Church.

     Bonnie’s family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Scheidt at Froedtert Hospital, Eric Danihel, PA, at Green Bay Oncology and nurse Jenn at Door County Medical Center for their kindness and care. Special thanks to her neighbors John and Marianne; neighbors Carly, Zack, Archer, Sylvie and Jude and friend Joanie for their constant kindness.
