Bill John Edwards

     Bill John Edwards, 79, of the Town of Egg Harbor, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

     He was born December 26, 1943 in Racine, the son of Wilbert John Edwards and Joan M. (Jacobi) Edwards. Bill graduated from Park High School in Racine with the class of 1962. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison before returning home to Racine. Bill worked for Twin Disc in Racine for 38 years, becoming a boat transmission parts designer.

     Bill met Judith Ann Squires at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Racine, where they were united in marriage on November 14, 1964.

     They joined Pentecost Lutheran Church in Racine where Bill served as a trustee, also helping with the construction transformation of a nearby house into the parish hall. Bill and Judy enjoyed participating in a local, couples bowling league.

     Upon retirement, they moved to Door County and resided in the Town of Egg Harbor. Bill and Judy joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in Juddville. Bill belonged to the Peninsula Gun Club where he shot trap in league. For almost 10 years, he served on the Fire Commission and Planning Commission for the Town of Egg Harbor. Bill and Judy joined Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor where they are presently members. Bill served on church council and in various other volunteer projects.

     He will be missed by his wife, Judy, with whom he shared over 59 years of marriage; daughter, Jennifer Edwards of Racine; grandchildren, Jessica Edwards, Jonathan Lemke, Christopher Gissel, and Kadi Edwards; as well as great-grandchildren.

     Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Brian.

     Bill’s life will be celebrated on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7973 State Highway 57, Baileys Harbor, WI 54202 with visitation for family and friends beginning 10:00 a.m. and continuing until the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Scharrig officiating.
