Anthony F. Tanzi, 92 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his home.
Anthony was born September 14, 1931 in Boston, MA to the late Mario Amore and Lillian (Ruffalo) Tanzi. Anthony was a member of the United States Army serving during the Korean War.
Anthony worked as a welder at Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay after moving from Chicago. For many years Anthony worked driving bus for the Sturgeon Bay School District. Anthony was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay.
Anthony lived the way he wanted to live. His list of accomplishments is long—Community Director for the Door County Plays, acting in them, Illinois Kick Boxing Champion in the 70s, was a Black Belt in just about all MMA, could bench a house and could swim from the Quarry to the Beach in Sturgeon Bay. He also learned French and Spanish after he turned 70 years old. He was a talented musician, playing piano since he was five and took up guitar, and shared those gifts performing around our community. The old saying “getting old blows” applies here.
Anthony is survived by his children, Mario Tanzi, Des Plaines, IL, Anthony (Margo) Tanzi, Jr. of Green Bay, Claudia Voeks of Wahiawa, HI and Olivia Moore of Belgium, WI; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded by his parents; children, Mark, and Andrea; and one sister.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Rappl officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 – 10:40 a.m. at the church.
