Other eyes Watching – (A metaphor)

I am standing upon the seashore
A ship at my side spread his white sails to the morning breeze,
and she starts for the blue ocean
She is an object of beauty and strength
And I stand and watch her, until at length
She blends into the distance, like a speck of white, where the sea and sky come together to mingle
with each other.
Then someone at my side says "look! There...she is gone.."
Gone where? Gone from my sight that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and beauty
As when she left my side.
And just as able to bear the load she is carrying
The load of joys, sorrows, the living freight
That will become her destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not her:
I cannot see her, yet she still exists.
And just at that moment when someone at my side has said "There!...she is gone...."
There are other eyes watching her coming.
And other voices ready to take up the glad shout;
"There!....there she comes!"
See you later, Bill.

Being a friend of Lynn's when we were kids I saw Bill whenever I was at their house. Always a smile on his face and he liked to joke around. Then, in the mid 90's when I was working nights at a local gas station he would come in and get coffee and we would chit-chat in between customers. Bill was a wonderful and caring person with a big heart. His loss will be felt by many. I can only imagine the happy reunion with his younger brother Jim whom I know he missed every day. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all his family. May all the good memories you have of times shared with him help you through this time of sadness. RIP Bill

Bill was such a dear friend to me. I loved him very much and he always knew that. I also knew his love for me as we shared such a sweet friendship. He will be missed. I am so thankful that I had the privilege of knowing him well. He was the kindest man and a gentle soul. He loved his daughter and son and their precious children. He was so proud of them. He also loved his sister Lynn and spoke of her. I will miss him greatly.
