William D. Woelfel

     William Donald Woelfel, 84, of the Town of Egg Harbor, formerly of Racine, passed away at his home on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017.

     He was born October 27, 1932 in Racine, the son of the late William J. and Ruth S. (Nelson) Woelfel. Bill attended Lutheran High School in Racine. He served his country with the United States Marines during the Korean War. On June 23, 1956, Bill married Mary Ann Trolle at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Racine. They shared over 47 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on January 18, 2004.

     Bill was a carpenter by trade for over 50 years, working with Yandre Homes, Barr Homes, and Korndoerfer Construction. He also had worked for his father at Wm. Woelfel Construction.

     Bill is survived by his four children, Kim Sheppard, Nancy (David) Willis, both of Racine, William “Billy” F. (Pauline) Woelfel of Auckland, New Zeland, and John Woelfel of Racine, eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild with another on the way; other relatives; and friends.

     Funeral services with military honors will be held at Purath-Strand Funeral Home in Racine. The date and times will be announced. Interment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Racine.
