Stanley James Horak, 70, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, December 2, 2017 from pancreatic cancer, surrounded by his family.

He was born January 16, 1947 in Kewaunee, the son of the late Stanley Sr. and Donna (Magle) Horak. Stan graduated from Kewaunee High School with the class of 1965. He worked for Kewaunee Bottling with his dad in earlier years. Stan loved his country very much and served in the U.S. Navy from 1966-1970, serving in the Riverine Forces on the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Stan was employed with Frito-Lay for 30 years as route salesman for all of Door and Kewaunee counties. He was awarded top salesman of the year in his division and given a trip to St. Marten along with the other salesmen from around the country. Stan met many friends during those years of serving their businesses and remain good friends. He retired from Frito-Lay 14 years ago in 2000, one month before his first great-grandson, Bradly was born.

He would have done anything for his family and friends and never wanted anything for himself. Following his retirement, Stan helped out with general duties and deliveries at DeJardin Cleaners in Sturgeon Bay for his step-daughter, Lori DeJardin until one year ago when his health began to fail.

On August 29, 1987, Stan married Patricia LeFevre on Mackinaw Island, MI. They celebrated 30 years of marriage this year. Stan married into an already-made family and on day one accepted them as his own. He was a devoted and faithful husband that any wife would be blessed to have been married to. Together Stan and Pat enjoyed travel throughout the United States, Hawaii, and Europe.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Patricia of 30 years; four step-children, Luanne (special friend, Cindy) LaViolette of Green Bay, Lisa (Rick) Kidney of Kentucky, Lori DeJardin of Sturgeon Bay, Les (Tammy) LaViolette of Reedsville; six step-grandchildren, Cassie (special friend, Jay) Kadletz, Krystal (fiancé, Ruben) Kadletz, Willie (special friend, Alex) DeJardin, Brandon [godson (and his special friend, Heather)] Kadletz, Amber (special friend, Adam) DeJardin, Jessica (special friend, Brady) DeJardin; six step-great-grandchildren, Bradly, Jauquin, Katara, Nevaeh, Hunter, and Clara; two sisters, Sandi (Larry) Aerts of Denmark, Mary (Joy) Wessley of Menominee, MI; brother, Gary Horak of Pensicola, FL; niece, Donna Horak (goddaughter) of Green Bay; two brothers-in-law, Dennis (Barb) LeFevre of Sturgeon Bay, and David LeFevre of China; and many nieces and nephews.
