Ralland "Otto" Rohr Obituary

Ralland “Otto” A. Rohr, 81, of Jacksonport passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Door County Medical Center.

He was born on November 16, 1937 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Alvin and Laura (Krueger) Rohr. Otto graduated from Kewaunee High School and enlisted into the United States Navy upon graduation. He honorably served for three and a half years as shore patrol. Otto deployed and sailed on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Mediterranean Sea area. He was handpicked by an Admiral of the United States Navy and began driving for him. After being discharged from the Navy, Otto was united in marriage with Mary Husby on May 31, 1969 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Jacksonport, where they remained members for many years.

Otto was a very busy man and enjoyed tinkering, gadgets, and re-building things. He was an avid hunter and trap shooter and took pride in being one of the founders of the Kewaunee Trap Club. Otto also loved fishing, archery, traveling, and cars, specifically Jeeps. Above all else, he was a hardworking, family man who appreciated being at home, surrounded by those he loved.

Otto will be missed by his wife, Mary; sons, John (Kristy) Rohr and Jesse Rohr; daughter, Janette Maxwell; grandchildren, Emily and Zachary Rohr; siblings, Darrell Rohr, Karen (John) Berner, Pete (Shelly) Rohr, Sue Gerdmann, and Gail (Larry) Ihlenfeldt; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Bill) Sampone, Cathy Gerdmann, Mary L. Husby, and Kris Husby; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Otto was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul (JoAnn) Rohr; brothers-in-law, Tony Gerdmann, Harold Gerdmann, Mark Husby, and Pete Husby; and nephews, Mark Husby and Jon Husby.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Otto’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Stella Maris Parish – Jacksonport site with Fr. David Ruby officiating. Otto will be laid to rest in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Military honors by the United States Navy and VFW Post #3088 will be performed at the cemetery.
