Mary Alice Hooker

January 24, 1930 ~ October 24, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old


     With sure and certain hope in His resurrection, Mary Alice Hooker, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, was called Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday morning, October 24, 2017 at Anna’s Healthcare CBRF in Sturgeon Bay.

     She was born, January 24, 1930 in Bridgeville, PA, the daughter of William August Dourlain and Mary Agnes (Kopach) Dourlain. Mary graduated from Bridgeville High School in 1948. On August 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to George Warren Hooker in McDonald, PA. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage together. George preceded Mary in death on August 15, 2011.

     She had a strong faith and love for the Lord. Mary served in her local churches – Central Assembly of God in Pennsylvania and Freedom Church in Georgia by taking care of the children in the nursery in addition to making her famous roast for church events. Mary also attended Sturgeon Bay Community Church in Wisconsin. She was the most generous person and spent her life taking care of the needs of others. Mary loved children, cooking, and sewing.

     Her love will live on in the hearts of her five children, Mary Jo Andrews of Houston, PA, George (Ruth) Hooker of Milledgeville, GA, Lois (Randy) Retort of Pittsburgh, PA, William (Teri) Hooker of Sturgeon Bay, and David (Corinna) Hooker of Lantana, FL; eleven grandchildren, Patricia Henefeld and Charlie (Michelle) Cribben, Lyndsey (Florian) Hieber, Courtney (Jay) Vizcarra, and Candyse (Adam) Pabian, Amanda (Theodore) Seemann and Randy (Michelle) Retort Jr., Christian, Jacob, and Benjamin Hooker, and Megan Hooker; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler (McKenzie) Henefeld, Charley and Tristan Cribben, Sebastian and Larnez Hieber, Robby and George Pabian, and Jeffrey and Hunter Seemann; and one great-great-grandson, Bentley Henefeld.

     Mary was welcomed Home by her parents; husband; grandson, Jeffrey Debbis; and brother, William (Jodie) Dourlain.

     Her life will be honored with a memorial service held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Sturgeon Bay Community Church with Pastor Shannon Souther officiating. Burial will be in Pennsylvania.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Sturgeon Bay Community Church on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.

     Memorials may be given in Mary’s honor for the Boys & Girls Club of Door County (PO Box 579, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235).

     A heartfelt thanks goes out to the staffs of Anna’s Healthcare and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care given to Mary.
