Marilyn Hilda Anschutz

May 24, 1935 ~ February 15, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old


     Marilyn Hilda Anschutz, 81, of Egg Harbor, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay.

     She was born May 24, 1935 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Fred and Hilda (Stoeger) Vertz. Marilyn graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1953. She clerked at Milan’s office furniture, Witalisons Market, and then 30 years with Main Street Market in Egg Harbor.

     On May 7, 1955, she married James Allen Anschutz in Egg Harbor. He preceded her in death on January 15, 1998.

     Marilyn was a member of Stella Maris Parish-Egg Harbor site and past member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed attending and traveling to Door County League Baseball games, watching Milwaukee Brewer and Packer games, and playing cards with her family and friends. For many years she volunteered as a poll worker on voting day.

     Her family includes four children, Dennis (Lynn), Allen (Izzy), Jeri Lou (Tom) Krauel, Jim (DeAnn); seven grandchildren, Lorn (Toni), Tami, Marcus (Alissa), Allen Jr., Christy, Krystal, Scott; five great-grandchildren, Cecelia, Makaila, Brynn, Levi, Hunter; brother-in-law, Wayne Werkhieser; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Anschutz and Betty Anschutz; and her dear friend, Marietta Tanck.

     Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Hilda Vertz; husband, James Anschutz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mercedes (Stanley) Williams, twin sister, Mary Lou Werkhieser; brother and sister-in-law, Cyril (Helen) Vertz.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Stella Maris Parish-Egg Harbor site with Fr. Anthony Birdsall as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, beside her husband, James.

     Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with a parish wake service to be held at 7:45 p.m. and led by Pastoral Associate Becky Nash. Visitation will continue at the church, Monday morning, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
