Lillian Mae Gauger

April 22, 1937 ~ December 21, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old


     Lillian Mae Gauger, 80, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Thursday evening, December 21, 2017 at Door County Medical Center.

     She was born April 22, 1937 in Wausau, the daughter of the late Walter and Stella (Gorski) Stoltz. Lillian graduated from Wausau High School in 1955. On August 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to Ronald Edward Gauger at St. Michael Parish in Wausau. She prided herself in taking care of her family and keeping a good home for her boys. Lillian helped Ron in his company Go Building Components in Wausau. She worked in Ohio for a short time before returning to Sturgeon Bay. Lillian was employed at Piggly Wiggly in Sturgeon Bay where she made many friends.

     She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay and helped in the office counting money. She enjoyed her membership at the Door County YMCA in Sturgeon Bay until her health began to decline. Lillian was also a member of the Door County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and helped out in the hospital gift shop. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

     Her love will live on in the hearts of her husband of nearly 60 years, Ron of Sturgeon Bay; two sons, Wade Gauger of Sturgeon Bay and Brad (Michelle) of Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Cindy Gauger of Town of Silver Cliff; five grandchildren, Jill and Matthew Gauger, Lance, Lexie, and William Gauger; and sister-in-law, Virginia “Ginny” Davide of Wausau.

     Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chad Gauger (2016); two sisters and one brother, Delores (Robert “Bob”) Kersten, Phyllis (Robert “Bob”) Bartelt, and Stanley “Lawrence” (Donna) Stoltz; and three sisters-in-law, Delores (Richard “Dick”) Valentine, Violet (“Tezzy”) Katowski, and Diane (Jerry) Butterfield.

     Her life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church, Wednesday morning, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery Columbarium.
