Kenneth Joseph Marcelle

     Kenneth Joseph Marcelle, 82, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Sunday evening, August 6, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society-Scandia Village in Sister Bay. He had been living with Alzheimer’s disease the past 10 years.

     Ken was born November 14, 1934 in the Town of Lincoln in Kewaunee County, the only child of the late Joseph and Fyrn (Cain) Marcelle. He grew up on the west side of Sturgeon Bay (formerly known as Sawyer) before going off to attend and board at St. Norbert High School in De Pere. Upon graduating, he went to study at the Maritime Marine Academy, and soon after that, he began his 44-year career as a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes. He retired as chief engineer in 1999.

     Ken was united in marriage to Carol Ann Kalms on February 11, 1956 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage together. Carol preceded Ken in death on February 8, 2005.

     He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay and the Knights of Columbus. Ken had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke. He loved football, especially the Packers, dogs, dining out, and riding his scooter. We think seldom has one Yamaha scooter had such high mileage. Most of all though, Ken was a generous man who was always ready to help someone in need.

     He is survived by his three daughters and one son, Kelly (Tim Davitt) Marcelle of Evanston, IL and Ephraim, Kendall Marcelle of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Kevin (Alana Ali) Marcelle of Lake Worth, FL, and Kristi (Tomas Melian) Marcelle of Piedmont, CA [and their children, Alec, Andres, Katarina, Krystal, and Nicole].

     Ken’s life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Robert Stegmann as celebrant. A private family committal will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Institute.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Friday morning, September 8, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
