Kathleen Ann Balzan

     Kathleen Ann Balzan, 74, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society-Scandia Village in Sister Bay.

     She was born April 2, 1943, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of James B. and Arlene C. (Novak) Nemec. Kathy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961. She was a manager at Younkers in Sturgeon Bay for many years.

     Kathy loved her children, friends, travel and ancient history. She considered herself lucky to have seen a number of beautiful, far-flung places, from New York to Rome, London to Santorini, Venice to Capri.

     Her parents; daughter, Shannon Kathleen Kleinmaier; and a granddaughter, Emily Kleinmaier, preceded her in death.

     Ron Balzan, her son, and his partner, Brian McCarter, and all of her friends in Wisconsin, New York, London and elsewhere will miss her. Kathy also wished her two surviving grandchildren, Sam and Allie Kleinmaier, of Madison, wonderful lives.

     Per Kathy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service.

     Great thanks go to so many people at Scandia Village, Door County Medical Center, the Aging & Disability Resource Center of Door County, and to a number of others—they have been immensely helpful, thoughtful and gracious in Kathy’s care.
