George Carl Schwarzbauer, 88, of Sturgeon Bay, peacefully passed away at Scandia Village in Sister Bay on March 6, 2019. Ruth, his wife of 64 years, passed just 93 days before him.

After marrying Ruth Juneau on June 26, 1954, he started a real estate company, was a city council member and was proud to be called City Assessor for Appleton for over 20 years. After moving to their retirement home in Sturgeon Bay, George continued working as an Assessor for Sturgeon Bay and other communities. George was a lifelong member of the Kiwanis Club and an active member of St. Joseph's Church in Sturgeon Bay.
He is survived by his brother, Joseph (Mary) of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Edith (Ted) Hill of Crystal Lake, Illinois; half-brother, Michael Graff of Madison, Wisconsin; George’s sons and daughter, Steve (Karen), Michael, Mark (Jill), Paul (Deb) and Juli (John) Sauer; and grandchildren, Jon, Anna, Esther, Chara, Sari, Selena, Katie, Keely and Audrey; and great-grandchildren Axel, Casper and Juneau.

Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Scandia Village and Woodview for treating Dad and our family with care and compassion during his stay. We would also like to thank the neighbors in Valmy that looked after George and Ruth.
