Welcome to the memorial page for

Eleanor Ann Olesen

June 26, 1926 ~ December 4, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Eleanor Ann (Meuser) Olesen, 91, passed away December 4, 2017, at Anna’s Healthcare in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. She was born June 26, 1926 in Elgin, Illinois, to Charles and Wilhemina (Sturm) Meuser. Eleanor married Robert J. Olesen, Sr. on June 1, 1946, at Epworth Methodist Church in Elgin, Illinois. Robert preceded her in death on August 17, 2003.

Eleanor graduated from Elgin High School in 1944. After their marriage, Eleanor and Bob lived in Elgin, where Bob was a fireman and Eleanor worked over the years at Freeman’s Grocery Store in Elgin, in an art gallery at the Milk Pail in Dundee, and at Motorola’s headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. They retired to their summer home on Three Stepping Stones Lake in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin, in 1976. This is where she had her favorite “job” of all, caring for children in her home. She and Bob loved children, and were honored that the children called them “Grandma and Grandpa.” She still kept in touch with many of them. Eleanor loved to bake, pick berries and make jam, and swim in the lake. She also loved to sew and made several Holly Hobby and Cabbage Patch dolls. She was the ultimate housewife and loved to spoil her family.

In 2005, Eleanor moved from the North Woods to Marquardt Village in Watertown, Wisconsin, to be near her son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Debbie. When Mike and Deb moved to Sturgeon Bay, Eleanor made the move, as well.

Eleanor is survived by sons, Michael C. (Deborah) Olesen of Sturgeon Bay, WI; and Robert J. (Laura) Olesen, Jr., of Sterling and Montgomery, IL; a brother Donald Meuser, of Buellton, CA; grandchildren Stephanie K. (Matthew) Olesen-Bute, of Phoenix, AZ; Ellyn (Don) Hines; Carolyn (Mike) Flynn; and Daniel (Island) Olesen. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family committal service will be held this spring at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Manitowish Waters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Eleanor’s memory to the Manitowish Waters Community Presbyterian Church or to SouthernCare Hospice.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Anna’s Healthcare and SouthernCare Hospice for the wonderful care given to Eleanor.

Huehns Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Sturgeon Bay is assisting the Olesen family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Eleanor may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
