Dolor "Deed" James Krauel

     Dolor “Deed” James Krauel, 84, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Monday afternoon, May 1, 2017 at Sturgeon Bay Health Services (formerly Golden Living Center-Dorchester).

     He was born December 15, 1932 in Carlsville, the son of Herman Gustave Christian Krauel and Adelia Pauline (Werkheiser) Krauel. Deed attended Carlsville School and later served his country with the United States Army for two years during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from service in 1955. Deed was a member of the American Legion in Fond du Lac and a supporter of the American Military History Foundation. He worked as a machinist for Giddings and Lewis in Fond du Lac until he retired at the age of 63. Deed returned home to Door County in 2012.

     He lived on Lake Winnebago for many years and was an avid fisherman. Deed enjoyed hunting in Door County with his friends, Kathleen Griese-Anschutz and Jerry Anschutz and their family. He loved his dogs especially his beagle, “Buddy,” his constant companion who was never more than a few steps away.

     Deed will be missed by his dear friends and their families, Kathleen Griese-Anschutz and Jerry Anschutz of Sevastopol, Milton (Betty) Anschutz and Les Pagenkopf, both of Algoma, Bill Knutson and Donna Kuehn, both of Sturgeon Bay, Tim and Gina Jones of Sturgeon Bay and their children, Mackenzie and Levi Jones (to whom Deed was like an uncle); his sister-in-law, June Krauel of Forestville; and his dog, Buddy. He is also survived by his brother, Darrel (Darlene) Krauel of Carlsville; and many nieces and nephews.

     Deed was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy (Henry) Paschke and Joann (Paul) Rohr; and two brothers, Arthur and Carl.   

     Funeral services with military honors by the United States Army and Weber-Tess AMVETS Post 51 will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Chaplain Mark Richards, of Unity Hospice, officiating. Deed will be laid to rest in Bayside Cemetery.

     Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
