Clarence Edward Peterson

June 14, 1951 ~ December 14, 2017 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Clarence Edward Peterson, 66, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Thursday morning, December 14, 2017 in the comfort of his home with his family at his side.

He was born June 14, 1951 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late George Stanley Peterson and Bessie Olive (Wilson) Peterson. Clarence graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1970. He worked in the shipyards in Sturgeon Bay for 10 years, initially for Bay Shipbuilding Co. and then Peterson Builders Inc. (PBI).  Clarence was employed with Hatco in Sturgeon Bay as an assembler where he worked for 25 years until his retirement.

On December 20, 1980, he married Erin Dawn McCoy at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church. They shared 37 years of marriage.

Clarence was a member of the Door Knobs scooter group and enjoyed riding his moped. He also loved to fish. He would fish with anyone, but no one more than his great-nephew and best buddie, Drake. Clarence had a wonderful sense of humor and was an intelligent, genuine, funny, inviting man. He loved meeting people and was well liked by all who knew him.

Clarence will be deeply missed by his dear wife, Erin; four siblings, Stanley (Darlene) Peterson, Allan, Bill, and Pauline (Paul) Peterson, all of Sturgeon Bay; niece, Jessika (Brian Knapton) McCoy [and their children, Rooke and Drake], other nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings, Don and Stanton Peterson, Ethel Korntved, Elaine Peterson, and (infant sisters) Mary Ardith and Marion Kay Peterson.

Clarence’s life will be honored with a memorial service held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated by Clarence’s family.

“We would like to thank the many family and friends who helped us and Clarence with the end of his life’s journey. To SouthernCare Hospice we would like to express our deepest and heartfelt thanks to your care team for their compassionate care extended to Clarence and his family.”

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Clarence may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
