     Thomas E. Wesa, 85, formerly of Sturgeon Bay and Port Washington, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.

     Tom was born March 2, 1931 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Thomas and Alice Wesa. He attended grade school in Fish Creek and graduated from Gibraltar High School. In 1953, Tom was called and honorably served his country on active duty in the U.S. Army during the Korean War stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he enrolled in Barber School in Green Bay.

      On March 31, 1956, Tom married Nancy Stoll at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Juddville, Door County. He barbered at Don’s Barber Shop (Don Conway) in Port Washington and later had his own barber shop (Tom’s Barber Shop) in Port Washington until his retirement in 1993. Living in Port Washington, Tom and Nancy raised their five daughters, Debra, Diane, Patricia, Carol, and Cheryl.

     After retiring, he and Nancy moved to Fish Creek, then to Sturgeon Bay for several years before returning in 2014 to Belgium and Port Washington.

     They were members of Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. Tom really enjoyed Packer games, fishing, and hunting.

     He is survived by his wife, Nancy; five daughters, Debra (Mike) Budzisz of Oshkosh, Diane (Bob) Nelson of Cedar Grove, Patricia (Kent) Kohn of Belgium, Carol (Patrick) Corcoran of Brookfield, Cheryl Hock of Oconomowoc; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Wesa of Fish Creek; sister, Arlene Fischer of Fish Creek; sister-in-law, Janet Reimer of Baileys Harbor; and dear nieces and nephews.

     Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Alice Wesa; parents-in-law, John and Lillian Stoll; two brothers, Don and Harris Wesa; and two brothers-in-law, John Fisher and Donald Reimer.

     Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Tim Malek officiating. Burial will follow at Bayside Cemetery.

     Friends may call at the church on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
