Stephen John Reinke, 70, died suddenly on Tuesday January 3, 2017 at Door County Medical Center after suffering an apparent heart attack at home.

Steve was born March 24, 1946 in Marinette, WI, graduated from Marinette High School in 1964, and received a B.S. in Marketing from U.W. Oshkosh in 1968.  Following a stint in the Army Reserves, he joined Sears’ management training program, in Menomonee Falls, WI and Minneapolis, MN.  He later joined NCR Corporation’s Financial Sales Division in Minneapolis.  Following a relocation to Dayton, Ohio, Steve’s career continued in corporate sales/marketing management.  After 35+ years in the retail and corporate business worlds, Steve retired to “live the good life.”

Steve became a golfer at age 8, and introduced many of his friends to the sport. He discovered motorcycles in 1983, and LOVED to ride. Although meticulous about maintenance, his greatest joy was riding, finding the best twisty roads and swapping stories with fellow riders. He developed a serious interest in photography after retirement and it became another passion, frequently combined with motorcycling by packing camera gear along on his motorcycle excursions.  He volunteered his time and photography talents to the Wright B Flyer Museum in Dayton, Ohio and to the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.  Steve was a passionate and kind man with a generous spirit, a childlike excitement about life and a gentle heart.  He cared deeply about his family and friends.

Survivors include his dear wife, Kathleen Losekamp of Springboro, Ohio and Sturgeon Bay; three brothers, Bill (Elizabeth) of Denver, North Carolina, Glen (Debbie) of Marinette, WI, Bruce of Fox Point, WI; one sister, Judy Stehle of Peshtigo, WI; cherished nieces and nephews and treasured friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William F. and Margaret E. (Peterson) Reinke; and his brother-in-law, Duane Stehle.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Monday January 9, 2017 with a service of remembrance planned at 6:30 p.m.

Ohio services will be held at Brater-Winter Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 with visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a blessing service.  Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Harrison, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in his name to the Door County Maritime Museum, 120 North Madison Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI, 54235.

Condolences, memories, and guestbook signing may be shared with Steve’s family via his tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com or www.braterfuneralhome.com.
