     Sam Reda, 86, of Sister Bay, formerly of Illinois, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

     He was born July 30, 1930 in Oak Park, Illinois and graduated in 1948 from St. Patrick’s High School in Chicago. Sam served with the National Guard for over 10 years. He was employed with Com Ed in Illinois as an Electrical Lineman for 35 years until his retirement.

     On November 4, 1950, he married Jeanette T. Bruno at St. Eulalia Catholic Church in Maywood, Illinois and enjoyed 66 years together.

     Sam was an avid fisherman, who taught his children to enjoy nature on countless camping trips with family and friends. He mentored hundreds of teens through the Mount Carmel and St. Eulalia School Teen Clubs. Sam also coached many youth baseball and football teams. He loved music of all genres.

     Serving as a board member of Triton College from 1976 to 1989, Sam was elected Chairman of the Board at Triton in 1984.

     His loving wife, Jeanette survives along with their four beloved children, Steve Reda, Denice (Ken Hubbard) Reda, Debbie (Larry) Bodzewski, Patrick (Audrey Witkowski) Reda; his dear grandchildren, Rachel (Steve) Jaco, Ashley (Mike) Porter, Brook Hubbard, Sara and Nicole Bodzewski, Emily and Madeline Reda; and great-grandson, Jake Porter.

     Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Mary “Emmy” Reda.

     A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial is being planned for this summer at Stella Maris Parish-Sister Bay site, and will be announced by Huehns Funeral & Cremation Services in Sturgeon Bay.
