Ruth Esther Neeley, 95, of Libertyville, IL, formerly of Egg Harbor, was called Home to be with the Lord and was reunited with her husband, Fred, Friday night, October 2, 2015, at Advocate Condell Medical Center.

She was born April 16, 1920, in Lancaster, OH, the daughter of Herbert Allen and Alice Louise (Johnson) Snider. Ruth graduated from Lancaster High School in 1938 and went on to study at the Ohio State University. She was united in marriage to her high school and college sweetheart, Fred E. Neeley, on June 15, 1939, in Kentucky. Ruth and Fred were blessed with over 74 years of marriage together. Fred passed away on January 1, 2014.

Ruth initially devoted her time to taking care of her home and eventually, raising her family. She then worked as a bridal consultant for Carson Pirie Scott & Co. for 15 years. In 1985, Ruth and Fred retired to Door County, a place they had come to know from vacationing over the years.

Together, they were members of Calvary United Methodist Church in Egg Harbor. Ruth sang in the church choir and was active with the women’s group.

She had a passion for gardening, tending to her plants and flowers, and was a member of the Garden Club in Egg Harbor. Her favorite pets were her two bulldogs, Duchess and Clementine. Ruth loved to cook and entertain friends.

Above all, she loved her family: three daughters and one son, Suzanne Beetham of Leander, TX, Thomas (Loretta) Neeley of Sylvania, OH, Marcia (William) Worley of Murfreesboro, TN, Polly (William) Kasdorf of Libertyville; eight grandchildren, Mary Beetham Pratt, Christopher (Janet) Beetham, Mark (Joan) Neeley, Sarah (Randall) Meyer, Todd (Holly) Worley, Douglas (Donna) Worley, Anne (Matthew McManus) Kasdorf, Lauren Kasdorf; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Jean) Snider of Salem, NC.

She was welcomed Home by her parents; husband; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Beetham, Elizabeth Neeley; and one sister, Pauline (Trafford) Tobias.

Ruth’s life will be honored with a funeral service held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Morris officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Fred, in Egg Harbor Town Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
