Laura Sternard

     Laura Sternard, age 100, of Independence, OR, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at the Evergreen Health Center in Independence with family by her side.

     She was born August 14, 1915 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Gustave and Lucy Karstaedt. On October 21, 1939, she married Oswald "Mike" Sternard. He preceded her in death July 9, 1958.

     She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She loved to play cards and read. She was a two-time cancer survivor.

     She is survived by her daughter, Pat (Don) Stee of Monmouth, OR, son, Mike (Dotti) Sternard of Luxemburg; daughter-in-law, Harriet (John) Paral of Sturgeon Bay; son-in-law, Ken Johnson of Harrisburg, OR, eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

     Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Elton; daughter, Peggy Johnson; sisters, Irene Klenke, Janet Bechtel, Gladys Nauman; brother, George Karstaedt and their spouses.

     A private burial will be held at Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay.
