Helmuth F. Soellner, 93, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Anna’s Healthcare.
He was born in Hanover, Germany, on June 1, 1922, the son of the late Herman and Frieda (Zeisler) Soellner. Hal immigrated to Milwaukee with his family in 1925 and was a proud alumna of West Division High School in Milwaukee. He served honorably during WWII with the U.S. Navy. After being honorably discharged, Hal married Geraldine M. Czuppa. She preceded him in death.
Hal went on to have a 30 year career with General Motors where he had the privilege of being involved in the manufacturing of guidance systems used for the NASA Apollo missions to the moon.
Survivors include his two daughters, Nancy Soellner of Milwaukee, Kathryn (Patrick) Saladin of Sturgeon Bay; and two grandsons, Christopher Saladin of Appleton, and Jon (Marli) Saladin of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Frieda Soellner; and wife, Geraldine Margaret Soellner.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
