Donald E. Jones

February 10, 1949 ~ October 4, 2015 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Donald E. Jones, 66, of Brussels, died Sunday morning, October 4, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family following a long battle with cancer.

He was born February 10, 1949, in Pine Bank, PA, the son of the late Arlis E. and Ethel M. (McDonald) Jones. Following his graduation from Buckeye High School in 1969, Don served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971. Don worked for Simplicity Mfg., in Port Washington from 1972 to 1976 where he met his wife, Kristine Clark. They were married on June 7, 1975, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. He then worked for Marigold Foods, formerly Cedarburg Dairy, from 1976 until his retirement there in 2009.

Don enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada and hunting. His favorite spot was in his tree stand deer hunting which he was able to do just one weekend last September for bow season. Cutting firewood was a hobby Don enjoyed along with working in his garage spending time in the man cave woodworking on projects. Don enjoyed driving which came in handy camping and traveling around the country.

Family and friends were the most important things in Don’s life. He loved telling stories about his life and growing up with his hillbilly roots in West Virginia. If you knew Don long enough, you heard all his stories at least three times over!

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Kristine of 40 years; two children, Sgt. Kevin (Marcie) Jones of Enterprise (Fort Rucker), AL, Kimberly (Steve) Knetter of Fredonia; three grandsons, Spencer, Zander, and Leo; brother, Gary (Carol) Jones of Seville, OH; nieces; nephews; in-laws; and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George and his wife, Kathy Simpson; sister, Alberta and her husband, Matt Bahn; and brother-in-law, James Mahl.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Huehns Funeral Home until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Military honors will be held at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice for their loving care of Don.
