Dennis R. Slyfield

July 26, 1941 ~ April 7, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old


     Dennis R. Slyfield, 75, of Clark Lake Drive in the Town of Jacksonport, was called home on April 7, 2017 at Door County Medical Center. 

     He was born July 26, 1941 in Milwaukee, the son of Robert and Bernice (Gaffrey) Slyfield. Dennis graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School in 1959. Following graduation, he worked for Kohl’s Grocery Stores. On June 17, 1960, Dennis married Eileen E. Holz at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. He retired in 2007 from ACS Marketing in Glendale where he was manager of their Point of Purchase production division. 

     Dennis and Eileen had a cottage in Door County for 40 years, and they retired here full-time in 2007.

     He worked at Peninsula Golf Course where he was able to enjoy his love of being around golf and playing the game. Dennis was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Eileen meant everything to Dennis, and his first concern was her welfare. They enjoyed fishing together at Clark Lake.

     He is survived by his wife, Eileen; two daughters, Denise (Harvey) Toy of Greenfield, Deborah (Sonny) Miller of Brooksville, FL; four grandchildren, Ashley and Alexander Toy, Erik (Danielle) Miller, Lindsey (Cody) Walton; three great-grandchildren and twins on the way; his father, Robert Slyfield; and sister, Nancy (Gary) Catalano of Shorewood.

     Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice; and sister, Susan Thompson.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7973 State Hwy. 57, in Baileys Harbor with Rev. Sue Gunderson officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Jacksonport.

     Friends may call at the church on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

     Memorials may be given in Dennis’ honor for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
