Anne Marie Achterberch

October 18, 1933 ~ March 11, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old


   

Anne Marie Achterberch, 83, of the Town of Egg Harbor, Sturgeon Bay, fell asleep in the loving arms of her family and awoke in the arms of the Lord at 5:58 p.m., Saturday evening, March 11, 2017.

     She was born October 18, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of William and Anna (Glotz) Berger, Sr. Anne grew up attending St. Augustine School and Parish and graduated from Lindblom High School.

     She was united in marriage to Frank “Lucky” Achterberch in Illinois in the mid 1960s. Anne dedicated her life to taking care of her family and home. She and Frank were blessed with over 27 years of marriage; he preceded her in death in 1992. Later that year, Anne and her brother, Bill, and some other relatives moved to Door County, WI. They became familiar with the area after Anne’s oldest son had been vacationing in Door County for years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (now Stella Maris Parish-Egg Harbor site). Anne liked playing Scrabble at home and also enjoyed going to bingo while living in Illinois and also while attending church in Egg Harbor. She was an animal lover and a diehard Packers fan. Anne also enjoy watching western TV shows and movies.

     She will be missed by her children, Billy (Donna) Pocius, Eddie (Anne) Pocius, Patricia (Mike)Pocius, Ellie (Jeff) Krezell, Robert (Susan) Pocius, Tony (Tammy) Pocius, Nancy Pocius, and Frank (Teddi) Achterberch; eighteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Berger, Jr; and her cat, Chloie.

     Anne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; son, Michael; brother, Edward; and cat, Red.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Stella Maris Parish-Egg Harbor site with Fr. David Ruby as celebrant.

     Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church, Saturday morning, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.

     Anne’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Sylvia for bringing Anne communion at home, and the staffs of Unity Hospice and Door County Medical Center, especially Dr. Tomasz Michalski, for their wonderful, compassionate care.

     Memorials may be given in Anne’s memory to Door County Humane Society in support of her love for animals.
