December 25, 1922 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Alice Sautebin, 94, a resident at Pine Crest Village, Sturgeon Bay, WI, was called Home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2017, and was re-united with her husband, Warren.

She was born in Lake Mills on Christmas Day in 1922, the daughter of Rudolph Schultz and Alice (Reidenbach) Schultz. Alice graduated from Lake Mills High School and studied at Wheaton College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was united in marriage to Warren Alfred Sautebin on September 15, 1945 at Lake Mills Moravian Church. They were blessed with over 66 years of marriage, and she cared for him until his passing on April 16, 2012.

Alice supported and worked with Warren at each of the Moravian churches he served in Sister Bay, Wisconsin Rapids, Sturgeon Bay, and Green Bay West. Alice worked outside the home at Sturgeon Bay High School, Green Bay Southwest High School, and for the Madison Metropolitan School District offices. Alice and Warren retired to Sturgeon Bay and made their home on Bay Shore Drive.

Alice lived her life with an unwavering faith and a great love for her family. Her families’ lives have been greatly enriched by her focus on education and her lifelong appreciation of music and nature. She volunteered for several organizations, including the Door County Library in Sturgeon Bay, the Door County Historical Society, and the Reading Buddy program.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons and two daughters, David (Karen) Sautebin of Casco, Bruce (Christine) Sautebin of Greenwood, Carol (Gordon) Wright of Reading Center, NY, and Anne (David) Tomlinson of Pasadena, CA; five grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Sautebin, Philip (Becky) Sautebin, Caleb (Trudi) Wright, Amy (Brian) Stephens, and Sarah (TJ) a’Becket; nine great-grandchildren, Emily and Ean Sautebin, Alaina and Maya Sautebin, Samson Wright, Maggie and Benton Stephens, and Thomas and Evelyn a’Becket; sister, Ruth (Royal) Odegaard of Sarasota FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, James Schultz.

Her life will be celebrated with a memorial service held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017 in the sanctuary at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with the Rt. Rev. Paul Graf officiating. Burial will be in the Sister Bay Moravian Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday, July 1, 2017 in the (2nd floor) Fellowship Room of the education building at the Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church.

Memorials may be given in Alice’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Pine Crest for their years of support and care, and the staff of Unity Hospice for their compassionate service at the end of her life.
