Sunday evening, August 11, 2013, the music world lost one of its own. William "Billy" Scott Triplett, Grammy nominated record producer and recording engineer, age 56, died suddenly from an apparent heart attack at the Holiday Music Motel in Sturgeon Bay, where he was the resident sound engineer, music collaborator, and dear friend to all those who knew him. Billy had some health issues he was dealing with, but his death was quite unexpected.
During his life, he collaborated with musical artists such as Erik Clapton, Goo Goo Dolls, Prince, and Paul McCartney, just to name a few.
He will be deeply missed by his brother, Steven Edmon Triplett of Vancouver, WA, Danielle (Bill) Prichard of Kalispell, MT; two nieces and two nephews; five great nieces and nephews; his friends in music; and his Sturgeon Bay family and friends. It was here that he was the happiest in his life.
Billy’s friends at the Holiday Music Motel would like to announce, “This Sunday, August 18, 2013, Billy Triplett memorial #2 kicks off at 2pm at Waterfront Mary's in Sturgeon Bay. Starting at 2pm, music by Elastik Waste Banned, Thy Dirty Deuce, Purgatory Hill, Chris Aaron, Early Thomas and many more! 6pm "Bombs For Billy." We know that this is short notice for people from far away so rest assured that a formal memorial for all friends and family will take place during Dark Songs at the end of October. Exact date and time TBA, we'll keep you posted as details get ironed out and hope that many of his friends and family from across the country will be able to join us at that time, too.”
A complete life story obituary will be published in the near future.
Memorial celebrations will continue to be announced by Huehns Funeral Home (www.huehnsfuneralhome.com) and the Holiday Music Motel Facebook page. Online condolences may be offered on either or both of these sites as well.
