August “A.J.” Richard, 28 years, formerly of Egg Harbor, died tragically in Green Bay on Tuesday (June 18, 2013), from injuries suffered while being struck on his motorcycle by an automobile on his way to work in Green Bay on Monday morning.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (June 22, 2013) at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport with the Rev. Peter Lindemann, officiating. Burial will be made at Egg Harbor Town Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. There will be a devotion Friday evening at Huehns Funeral Home at 7:45 p.m.
A.J. was born January 10, 1985 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Mark and Mary (Tanck) Richard. He graduated from Sevastopol High School in 2003. He was accepted for military service after high school with the U.S. Army and served two tours in Afghanistan from 2003-2008. A.J. also served in the Army Reserves.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing with his family, especially dad. A.J. was selflessly helpful to others, he didn’t let life pass him by, made friends with those he met, and was non-judgmental of others.
A.J. had worked as an auto mechanic for Klemm’s Trailor’s, and Tuffy’s in Green Bay.
Those left to mourn his loss are his parents, Mark and Mary Richard of Egg Harbor; siblings, Matt Richard (his special friend, Hannah Reed) of Maribel, Heather Richard of Egg Harbor; A..J.’s, friend April; his maternal grandmother, Marietta Tanck of Egg Harbor; and paternal grandparents, Chuck and Gen Richard of Egg Harbor.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Arnold Tanck; cousins, Jeremiah and Mindy Zak, Sarah and Tony Bauer.
Memorials may be given in his memory for youth programs at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport.
